TUF A17 FA706IU - RAM Timings

Angstromm
Level 8
I've upgraded RAM to 32GB DDR4-3200MHz CL18 1.2V. The original sticks ran at 3200MHz CL22, so these new sticks should be a bit faster. But the timings are the same as original, CL22.

Is there any way to force system to recognize the CL18 timing? Most systems I've built recognize and automatically adapt RAM config (speed and timings) and one of the reasons I made sure to buy sticks with same voltage rating as original sticks...

Thanks!

Hello Angstromm,
It is normal for a higher one to slow down to match the lower one.
Sometime not just the voltage, the timing needs to be the same.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Thank you.

Thanks for the reply, Blake.

Was a bit puzzled, tho. It sounds like you think i have mixed RAM in my laptop. I don't. I bought a new dual-channel kit that has faster timings than the stock RAM i replaced. The question remains, is there any way to change RAM timings. There's no apparent way to do so via BIOS (bummer!). Is there a software solution? Anyway, sure would be nice if laptop would, like most modern systems, recognize the new modules' timings and adjust.

i am very curious aobut this issue.
could you post the spd data
what i have seen in the past is some makers will spec that it will run those lower cl's or fater clock rates but only if you set the voltage and timing manually.
i used cpu-z and und under tolls used save report txt to get this info
this is the stock so-dimm
