Why did ASUS Engineer design CMOS battery placement so badly?

Do you think ROG RAMPAGE VI EXTREME CMOS battery never run out ?

86240

Only one battery replacement need more than 60 min to disassemble the ROG Armor.

Please do not use these method for next ROG RAMPAGE VII EXTREME for Icelake X
or not I will choose other brand instead.

Can’t believe the most expensive mobo also expensive time to replace CMOS battery 🔋

Beware everyone only 3 years battery run out shortly. And you’ll see this experience like me.

It has been returned to the conventional location on the R6EE so logically they will not do this stupidity again for the R7E

A number of companys use this style of plug in battery. Amazon has a wide selection.

I built my system with quick disconnects so any line or part can be removed without water loss.

you are true the design is very bad and it's not easy

but they changed this also starting from r6e omega , I think also for encore

Not every battery fail after 3 years , I did own other boards form other brands more then 6 years or so and the cmos battery did not failed me,

I know that if you keep you system power up non stop the battery will remain charged for a very long time .

seems your battery failed much quicker even with system power 24/7

The people who design CMOS battery placement of ROG RAMPAGE VI EXTREME were extreme abnormal.
Even you power on it 24/7 3 years pass , you'll face this issue when CMOS battery runout.
They are abnormal people. I belived. 😛

you are true about the placement of the battery of r6e

but this is not a rule that the battery will fail after a period of time ...can run out quickly or after very long time more then 3 years

My cmos died today. Do I need to take out the whole motherboard from my casing in order to change it? Are there any screws at the back? Or only front? I'm running custom loop.

Should Try the one I had to replace in a G752VY laptop. Total disassembly required. Of course I extended it to the drive bay area if I have to get at it again.

I ran into this problem this week the cmos battery died. I have a custom loop also. I ended up cutting the two wires off the old battery and soldering on a single cr2032 holder and routed it to the outer part of the motherboard on the bottom.
Here is the holder i used: https://www.adafruit.com/product/4856
hope this will help someone 🙂
