Not good news Im afraid.
Well, for me anyway.
Have tried everything I can think of and everything you kind gents have suggested.
i5 back in and running beautifully.
Now I have to decide whether to stick with x299 or ditch the whole idea and go with somehing more conventional.
Thanks again for your input. I will let you know how it pans out.

PSU below 850 watt may not enough to supply your whole system.

Hi restsugavan, thanks for the input. I understood perfectly thank you. If you check the chart those are power draw at the wall numbers not just for CPU.
All the Power draw calcs I have used have come up with the same numbers for my RIG, total draw of 480W. ASUS tech support say my PSU is fine.
Im not running an 18 core and Im not overclocking. That chart is for an 18 core overclocked form 2.6 to 4.6GHZ under full load draws 500W, at stock speeds, it only draws 265W and only 85W at idle.
It doesnt seem particularly relevant to my setup ?
So my 12 core 10920X should be able to start up and idle at least, with my 650W PSU ? Or am I missing something?Last edited by Colonel Bogey; 10-23-2020 at 01:38 PM.

Hi, when you use Intel Core i9-10920X, is it booting up?
please update latest bios to 3105 link . Please check to make sure you have good thermal conductive thermal paste on top of the processor. Make sure you don't have any bent pins on the socket. If it still do not work, please run at default memory frequency and see if you can boot with single memory module. The 10920X CPU works best at 2933Mhz memory frequency. link. Hope that helps!Sincerely,
Legolas

Hello Legolas.
Thanks for the input.
I have tried every BIOS version from 2002. No Post.
I have installed processor and thermal paste 3 times. No POST.
Cant be any bent pins, i5 runs fine.
This was proceedure on my last attempt.
i5 installed. Running fine on BIOS 3105.
Flash BIOS to 3105.
Power down.
Remove M.2 and other HD + all other peripherals esxcept CPU cooler and GFX card and 1 stick of RAM.
Swapped GFX card to other slot.
Replaced CMOS battery
Cleared CMOS
Install i9.
insert power cable.
Flash BIOS to 3105.
Remove power cable for 30 sec.
reinsert and power on.
Fans spin up and down straight away. No POST.
Re flashed BIOS
Cleared CMOS.
Tried RAM stick in Dual channel slot.
No POST.
Tear hair out......jump up and down shouting obscenities.
reinstall i5.
Power on
Says " new CPU detected, please enter BIOS etc etc"
Set XMP in BIOS, reboot, boots up runs fine.Last edited by Colonel Bogey; 10-24-2020 at 03:36 PM.

Look like your i9 had some issue
What model of i9 CPU do you test ?
This case was interesting for me. Recheck your i9 CPU LGA contact first. If some area burnt or look like this picture below.
You'll need to sending back to Intel for RMA.
On your case. I think your i9 CPU had some issue. Did you ever testing it with other LGA 2066 board ?
