ASUS ROG Strix B550-E - Problems with Intel I225-V Ethernet Adapter!?!
Hi
since 1-2 weeks i have been using the "ASUS ROG Strix B550-E Gaming" Motherboard with a "AMD Ryzen 5900X" CPU - except high temperatures iam happy with that kind of combination because i had no problems. Yesterday Windows 10 automatically updated my "Intel Ethernet Controller 1225-V" from v1.0.1.4 to v1.0.2.6 - after that update the Ethernet Adapter randomly disappears during high CPU load. Now iam asking myself if its maybe a problem between the Beta-BIOS and a new driver or do I have a broken mainboard? Is this bug known? What can i do? Within the next 3 days I can return the mainboard for free but i dont want to.
My (Main-) System:
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X || ASUS ROG STRIX B550-E GAMING (Beta BIOS v1212) || ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360 with 3x Noctua NF-F12 PWM chromax.black.swap (FRONT) || Gainward GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Phoenix Golden Sample 11GB GDDR5X || G.Skill Trident Z 16GB DDR4 3600Mhz CL15-15-15-35 || Samsung 970 EVO Plus 250GB + Crucial MX500 2TB || Western Digital Green 2TB 2.5" || be quiet! Straight Power 10 CM 600W || Fractal Define R6 Blackout (3x 120mm AIO intake, 1x 140mm outtake)
I also have a second system. Same mainboard but with a AMD Ryzen 3600 and BIOS v1202 (FINAL) - same problems with INTEL driver v1.0.2.6.Last edited by 6kbyte; 11-22-2020 at 07:27 AM.

@Raven41 have you installed the windows 10 20h2 update? I refuse to believe that 2 brand new boards are defective!

I could identify the problem! Its not a faulty mainboard, its a cheap and buggy ethernet controller which asus is putting on their (B550) boards (Intel I225-V v2). There is an incompatibility between my Asus EA-AC87 media-bridge and the mainboard ethernet adapter. The funny thing is, the problem only occurs when the new driver is installed and the cpu is on high load. I absolutely cannot understand this kind of issue but yeah, it completly dissapears when iam using another switch/router connected to my board or reinstalling the old driver. Very strange and annoying! Now iam allowed to buy a new media-bridge/switch too, really great... not. Thank you Asus (again) and Intel! I am curious what the support will say about this!?!
