ASUS Rampage III Formula - Memory Advice/Compatibility 2020

Hey all!

Someone from the long past looking to upgrade my ram. I had 12 gigs of ram until my 8 gig (2x4g) memory modules decided to give up after 10 years so now I gotta go back into the market for some new memory. I'm a tad lost however as I'm not too sure on what will be compatible as the currrent DDR3 sticks are obviously not on the recommended vendor list.

I would appreciate any help or information at all regarding the kinds of sticks I can go with. I'm not a expert on such matters. I went ahead and bought 3x KVR16N11/4 thinking "pshhh any ddr3 that has supported specs shouldn't be an issue" which didn't end up working at all even with the latest BIOS update so trying to get those returned aha.

At the moment I'm running on what I had went I built this system all those years ago (2x KVR1333D3N9/2G). I have a Intel Core i7 950. Preferbly something that will work with a triple 4 gig channel setup but I'm okay to just top up another 2 4gigs for a total of 12.
