I know it's typical to connect an ASUS router to a broadband router using the designated port on the router. I have a need to move my router away from where I have direct access to the Ethernet port where the modem exists and move the router to a different location that is serviced by a single Ethernet drop.
My question, then, is it possible to connect the modem to one of the eight ethernet ports on the router, in this case an RT-AC5300, rather than the designated WAN port, and configure the router so as to have it function normally?
If that can't be done I suppose I will have to fish another Ethernet cable through two floors and walls.
Thanks for your thoughts!
