P7P55D Pro i7 Upgrade

PrairieDog

I have an older P7P55D motherboard with an i5 750 CPU. I bought an i7 860 (Which is compatible) off ebay and installed it yesterday. When i booted, the system recognized the new CPU and asked if I wanted to configure my BIOS or accept the default values. I went with the default values. After the system boots it will only run for 30-60 seconds, then I get a "system encountered a problem" message, and the system reboots. This is what keeps happening, the system continuously reboots every 30-60 seconds. I thought this CPU upgrade would be a plug and play. Is there anything I should be looking at changing in the BIOS, or I should I assume this CPU is defective.
Thanks.
