happy new year to you too and everyone else on the forum!
Thanks for sharing the Icelake Xeon stuff you posted!

Several questions on the Icelake xeon ES:
1. I see that it is paired with C621 chipset. Is it also using the same socket as the Skylake/Casacdelake Xeons. Your post seams to indicate that you could put an Icelake Xeon CPU into an old C621 mb? or am I reading this wrong...
2. If so does this carry over to HEDT space so that the Icelake core i9 XE would slot compatible be with X299 boards? I had to ask even though it seams completely unrealistic... but since I saw C621...
3. what was the frequency for the CPU ID run i see 1Ghz as base frequency but what as it actually running at during the CPUID benchmark.
4. I see the AVX-512 benchmark but without frequency it is rather meaningless to compare with Skylake. I've read that the AVX-512 frequency is high (or rather the AVX negative offsets are lower than on Skylake) so that makes it even more important to understand the frequency the AVX-512 was running at... without that we do not know what the numbers mean...

Thank you once again!

1. Maybe we've got some surprise by Intel HEDT team soon. I can't share anything much more.
However it will be products that longer LGA 2066 products too. After Gen 11 Core mainstream release. (Computex 2021 time)

2. You're right due PCIe 4.0 gen provide by CPU itself, Intel will double DMI 3.0 lane on it next gen HEDT CPU same as Rocket Lake CPU. It will working with exist PCIe 3.0 PCH like Intel 300/400 and also X299 which sharing same system PCH micro achitect.

3. Yes AVX512 clock speed from Cypress and Icelake SP had been tuning better than Skylake X/SP.

Not far from now, You'll impressive on your X299 mobo again. Happy New Year 2021 everyone. 😮

Best Regards

Thanks for the interesting answer!

If I read you right, it seams like you indicate that we will get HEDT CPU(s) based of the same idea as the Comet lake -> Rocket lake transition...
That is, we can use our current x299 mobos AND there will be new x299 mobos with a PCIe 3.0/4.0 combo like rocket lake the 1200 mobos, with 20 or so direct CPU PCIe4.0 and "many" PCIe 3.0 off of the 299 chipset.
Just like Rocket lake mainstream CPUs, the new HEDT CPUS will be based on Sunny Cove cores and these new HEDT CPU will work in existing socket 2066 x299 AND also in a new gen of x299 mobos, having 20 or so PCIe 4.0 off of the CPU plus 20-30 PCIe 3.0 lanes off of x299 (like the rocket lake mobos).

if this was true, this would be an interesting upgrade for existing x299 customers (me).

If I read you right the remaining questions are:
- what are the maximum # of cores in the 2066 HEDT x299 version? 18 would be good but Sunny cove cores are bigger so I suspect it will top out around 16 for a socket 2066. However 24-32 would be great! I doubt we get there though since power consumption would be crazy high... so I'd say 16-20 cores is going to be max
- base and boost frequencies? again power will dictate this I think
- AVX2 negative off sets? I'm thinking 1-2 (easy to get to 0 with OC)
- AVX512 negative off sets? - important to me! 2-4 would be great since with OC I could probably make this on par with standard core (0 offset).
