The Z 490s just came out in May.. Is Intel finally going to release a new version so soon after they released the Z490 PCIe 3 Motherboards?

Last year they talked about a Maximus Z490 XII Glacial being in the works, and a few sites reported that a Z490 Glacial was coming, but Asus apparently dropped the board completely from it's lineup.

Hopefully the Z590 XIII Extreme Glacial is real, and Asus will officially announce it during the CES 2021 event.

As it is indeed a sweet looking board.

It is funny to me that Intel has been saying that PCIe 4 was not that much of an improvement over PCIe 3 so why not create the newest processors with a PCIe 4+? I suppose the fact the new Nvidia cards and new M.2 SSDs came out with PCIe 4, probably hurt them in sales of PCIe 3 components so they may be trying to compensate.

Yeah, ASUS just officially announced the Z590 boards. I'm sad because I have a 10900K and Maximux XII Extreme.

I've always wanted a mono block that has sensors built in (looks like the rings around the Maximus are leak detectors). I might try to at least pick up the new mobo and upgrade the processor at a later date.

Hoping the Glacier is available in a legit amount of stock and not a limited edition product and only 5 of them are made.

Weird that the DIMM2 is still only PCI 3.0. Seems kind of pointless now.*

I am sad because it looks like the Hero Z590 has more clearance below the CPU socket for coolers like the EK AIO I have, whose pump hose connectors hit against the bottom VRM heat sink. From photos the z590 has lots more clearance space below the socket (the z490 overlapped by a couple of miserable mm). Also the PCIE-4 DMI speed.

I just read an article that had two things regarding the new boards. One was an upgrade path would be available for Z490 board owners. I don't know exactly what that means unless it refers to the new processor situation on the Z490s...

It also stated Z490 board owners would gain PCIe 4 by upgrading to the 11th gen processor. This usually varies with exactly which processor is upgraded to, I would assume..

And it looks like the Z590 has Wi-Fi 6e.. Looks like a Router upgrade may also be needed.. 🙂
