Memory frequence change

I recently purchased a Zenith II Extreme Alpha motherboard and a 3970x cpu. In my rush to order all the parts to put this new build together I may have ordered the wrong memory (G.SKILL Trident Z Royal Series 128GB (4 x 32GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 4000 (PC4 32000) Intel XMP 2.0 Desktop Memory). I am still waiting on the processor to arrive. G.Skill tells me I may have to adjust settings in my bios to get this setup to work. Will I damage or void any warranties trying this memory out in stock setting? I have never attempted overclocking before and want a stable system to start out with. The way I now understand memory is that the modules broadcast the settings they want to operate under and the motherboard tries to adjust to that even if overclocking is needed. Is that the case? Any advise out there as to how I should approach this?
