New Build Q about ASUS Strix 3070 and PSU Connection

psoutrage39
Level 7
Just built my system, i have a ASUS Strix PSU and the PCI-E connector has a 8X8 my question is do i have to install the other PCI-E 8 pin to the ASUS Strix 3070 or is it ok to be on the same rail/cable? I have just the single PCI-E rail connected which has a total of 16 pins is the Video card getting the full 220 TPD off one PCI-E cable sorry it it sounds confusing just wanna make sure my GPU is getting the correct power to the card

Thank you for your time

Hi psoutrage39

In theory it should be ok, you get 75 watts from the pcie x16 slot and 150 watts from the 8-pin pcie cable which = 225 watts.

But.... I personally would use two separate 8-pin pcie cables for better stability and overclocking.
