Weird issues with NVME drives and DIMM.2 ok the Zenith II extreme Alpha.

Everything was working great out of the box then I decided to update the bios as you do.

So I did.

Next thing I know , my machine would refuse to register that I had bootable Pcie NVMES installed in tbe DIMM.2 adapter.

Weirdest thing of all is that it still sees the drives under the NVME settings menu. However I cannot set them to be in the boot order. In fact I cannot even configure the boot order. When I use USB thumb drives they show up in the boot order and when I use linux , running off said boot drive , both my NVMES are visible to linux when booted

Really strange issue .

Any ideas??.

Thanks ,

Martin

I have tried reverting to the very first bios version on ASUS's website but no dice.

Interesting so when I reverted to the original BIOS. Both NVME's were seen straight away.

So I seem to have fixed the issue - kinda.... My previous builds OS was installed on an MBR bios (It was the Rampage IV extreme with a 5960x) so it should have been Uefi but I guess I wasnt paying attention when installing the OS.

Although I have reverted to the first version of the BIOS for the ZENITH II EXTREME ALPHA, I will update when I have me clean install of windows setup properly on this machine and have updated to 1402 again, but I fear that I'm going to have issues with that BIOS as I did before.

Well 1402 flashed without issue. If anyone else is having this issue then it's likely because the NVME (or drive) they are using from their old machine , was setup using MBR. This was the case with my new build , set it up on a brand new install using GPT and uefi and no issues whatsoever.

Thanks this can be marked as closed if necessary.
