Strix RTX 3090 Waterblock

Hello, I'm new here and have a question about your experiences with different waterblocks from different customers.
Last summer I started to built a custom loop for the first time. I use a Lian Li PC O11 Dynamic XL ROG with GPU vertical mouting Kit and Lian Li Distroplate Co-work with EKWB. A waterblock which is cooling CPU and VRM area is mounted at the Strix X570 E Gaming. Normally I have only one choice...to buy the waterblock from EKWB plus seperatly sold backplate. This one is very expensive...but not as much as the graphics card itself 😄
Is anybody satisfied with this cooler or would you recommend a different one?
2nd question is about radiator. for the gpu I need a 2nd 360mm radiator. At the bootom of the case will fit a 35mm thick radiator plus the hight of the fans under
the vertically mounting kit for the gpu. If I do some modification on this kit there will fit a 60mm thick radiator plus fan. What do you think? Does it matter which one I use? Do you expect a difference in temperatures that justifying a lot more work to do?

I have been using the corsair block for the 3090 strix and get great temps and the card was very easy to install. I did replace the thermal paste that come on the card with kryonaut. I am running a 420mm & 280mm x 30mm radatiors with d5 pump and temps never go past 50c with a 30c idle loop temp. My temp delta is 10c on gpu. My vram temps normally sit around 60-70c while gaming. I run my card at with a 110/500 offset and my boost is normally around 2070 while gaming @ 480w. Going with thicker radiators you wilk need higher rpm fans to move the heat out of them. This is something to consider when going with thicker radatiors. The higher fan speed will come with increased noise. I run my 420 radiator in push pull and my top mounted 280 is pull. Both are setup as intake with one exhaust fan at the back. I think the general rule for radatior size is 120mm per 100w.

As for what block you pick I think they all give around the same performance, give or take a few deg of temp delta. I would pick one that you like how it looks to be honest. The vram in my opinion don't need water cooling unless you plan on extreme overclocking. The cards were obviously designed to operate with just the cooling from the back plate.

Okay thank you. 50 degrees while gaming sounds good. The Helios is also a very big case. I build a custom PC with that at my work a few days ago . Did your gpu are stable at 2070MHz while gaming or is it more variable. Atm my gpu clock varies between a high 18xxMHz up to 1995MHz.

My first radiator , which is actually cooling only the processor (R7 3700X @4300MHz) is 45mm thick. It's mouted at the upper side of the case. 3 Alpenfön Wingboost 3 fans exhaust the warm air. 3 fans of the same type are mounted at the bottom of the case to blow fresh air in it. At least one of them is at the backside, also to exhaust. I think I will decide to buy another 45 mm thick radi for the bottom. It will require the modification but then it will look equal to the upper side .
It's impossible to mount a push/pull combination with a thicker radiator. My big case has not enough space for it.;)

The GPU is stable at those clocks but it depends a lot on the game for how far it varies from 2070. Some games it will dip down to 2045 or so but its mostly at 2070. Here is a quick clip of playing Star Wars battle Front 2 from earlier today so you can check out the temps and and clock speed. This game doesn't load up the GPU to max 480w but still you can get an idea.



Those radiator sizes and layouts should work just fine. I think you will be happy with it.

Hello again ,
I finally decided to buy the EKWB Block and a 2nd 360 radiator with 45mm thickness. While building, cutting, bending I got an idea to include a little wheel that indicates the flowing of water.
Now the build is ready and I'm happy with it how it looks. My GPU now has temps depending by games between 66-72 degrees celsius. I think this is ok but the temps of the memory sometimes climb over 100 degrees for instance at Assetto Corsa Competizione VR with HP Reverb G2. This HMD had a very high res an need a powerful GPU. Assetto with unreal 4 engine is the most hungry vr application as far as I tried.

What are your memory temps with watercooling?
