Technically yes, but it's quite a process. I've read about it on the win-raid forums and it involves buying a chip and stuff - real pain the ass.

But for most people, the answer is a big fat NOPE.

You can if the ME SVN hasn't changed. The SVN number determines if you can roll back to. Intel clicks it up in new firmware if they need to prevent downgrade. if the SVN are the same you should be able to. Otherwise it is an ordeal as mentioned.

I apologize for a probably very dumb version, but how do I know/find this security number? For instance, is it the same between 14.1.53.1649 and 14.1.65.1969? If yes, how do I downgrade? I've got a Z490. Thank you

Should I compare TCB or ARB? Or both should match?

Have you flashed 14.1.65.1969? There are some issues with it, but they can be worked around. I tried to roll back to 14.1.53.1649 and it was not permitted.

Thank You for the Answers!
The thing why i am thinking about a Downgrade is the following Stuff:

TurboV Core 1.10.07 says "Please install Intel MEI Driver from ASUS Support CD."
And sometimes AISuite3 says too that the MEI Driver is not installed.
I have Windows reinstalled and same "Error" but System runs fine.
And why is a 1# after the Intel MEI Driver?!
I tried different Versions but all the same.

The FW is Unknown

I have flashed the latest FW from here.

This isnt an MEI issue, its an ASUS software issue. Just another reason I don't run AI suite, Armory Crate or anything else by ASUS. They make great hardware but the software just plain sucks.

Thanks for the Answers!

Then i hope the Supreme Software-Support 😄 of ASUS will fix it.

The #1 has been there for a while. I don't know why but it is normal.

What version of the driver do you have (in the (driver tab of the Intel management Interface #1)? sounds more like a driver/app issue.
Have you tried the ME driver from the Asus support page for your board?

Yes youre right, the FW isnt unknown, but the Date is unknown.

I tried different Versions from the Support Page.

Why don't you post this question in the thread that you got the firmware from.

Out of curiosity. I did look into the #1 in the Device display name. Looking at the inf file, the #n is used to distinguish between different Intel Management Engine flavors. For instance there is a tiger lake variant that has no components (DAL or LMS) that would get a #3.

All Z490 Comet lake 14.x are Intel(R) Management Engine Interface #1
