GT-AX11000 with 3.0.0.4.386_43129 breaks piHole integration.

After upgrading my GT-AX11000 to the latest firmware (3.0.0.4.386_43129), my piHole integration is partially broke.

To explain my setup:

I have DHCP configured to point all my clients to my piHole server, however, since the router continues to give out ITS IP address as secondary DNS, some of my clients occasionally bypass the piHole. To resolve this issue, I had set the router's WAN DNS Settings (DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2) to point to my piHole as well. (my piHole uses 1.1.1.1 for DNS resolution)

This worked perfectly until 3.0.0.4.386_43129. After this upgrade, my router says it's disconnected from the internet. All my clients can ping IP addresses, but no DNS resolution. Setting DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2 to anything other than the piHole (i.e. 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1) resolves the issue, but once again, this in turn allows the occasional client to bypass my piHole.

I had the same issue with that firmware update. I had to downgrade back to 3.0.0.4.386.41700 to get the network up again. I tried just going back to 9.0.0.4.386.41994 (for the security patches), but it also would not work with the piHoles.

I have 2 piHoles on my network (i had an unused pi3b laying around), and both have a set of three different DNS server addresses.

I have submitted requests through the firewall repot tool to have those DNS address entries added to the DHCP server settings, but no changes have happened yet.

Having exactly the same issue with my GT-AX11000 (using the latest firmware (3.0.0.4.386_43129)) and a piHole. Hopefully a fix / update arrives soon!!

I'm also experiencing the same thing. Took me a couple of hours to figure out that's what the issue was. I thought the upgrade completely broke the internet connectivity, but it was just the DNS/pihole usage which was broken.

Hi there,

Please try this new beta of internal build to see if it solve your pihole issue.

Thanks.

Applied the firmware this morning and it did not break pihole. So far, so good. Thanks!
