GPU Tweak II Version 2.3.3.0

Whenever there is a new version of Tweak II, it makes sense to download and install it, right? So recently, 2.3.3.0 has been released.

Now after downloading and installing it, I restarted and then went to the Windows menu and opened up Asus and then GPU Tweak II. Now on opening the software, the face of it reads V. 2.2.9.5 but I just installed 2.3.3.0.

This has never happened before to my recollection, and I have downloaded the latest for a long time, and then seen what was downloaded and installed was indeed what then showed on the face of the software page on opening it.

What am I missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you completely uninstall the previous version before installing the new one? In my personal experience I found that uninstalling the previous version completely before installing the newest version is the best option about this software. Can't wait for GPU Tweak III out of BETA!

Unfortunately, any ASUS related piece of software cannot be upgraded just like that.
This software even has an auto update check that is basically running for nothing.

You have to uninstal current version, reboot, run the cleaner provided by ASUS, restart again just to be safe, run some registry cleanup (depends on your OCD), restart again because why not? right? Then, finally download and install the new version.

This way no remains of old version and no "upgrade" process either, just a fresh installment.
This way you wont see the old version on top of the new (basically you are still running the old one, happened to me on my previous windows build).

Okay, so I tried to uninstall from the Windows uninstall page. And guess what? There were errors. Then I tried to install GPU Tweak II once again, and got the same errors.

So now I have nothing to control my GPU the way I like it, and it looks like I have to reinstall Windows (again). That is an all day job because I then have to reinstall all of my software. Sigh.

Asus software man. Tweak II is the only software I use now from Asus because I know from long experience it is a total headache. But must it all be aberrant cancer to your system--even GPU Tweak II?

Next time I am going with another hardware maker. I am tired of reinstalling Windows and everything every flipping time.

Or is there some other way to remove this cancer software so I can reinstall it?

hey,

Can you please try the ASUS GPU Tweak II Removal Tool?
You should have it on your video card download page.

i.e. (my video card)

https://rog.asus.com/graphics-cards/graphics-cards/rog-strix/rog-strix-gtx1080ti-11g-gaming-model/he...

Version 1.0.1.1

ASUS GPUTweakII RemoveTool_Version 1.0.1.1
Updated security certificate

I believe this is the latest version but check on your support page as well.

As stated above, i use it anyway after uninstalling the software via the Windows Apps, as i believe something always stays behind.
I believe it will be able to totally remove it from your system.

If it is, then also try a registry cleaning software once done, as without proper uninstallment, i believe these will remain,

Thanks for the info and links. My cards are Asus Turbo 2080 and 2080ti cards, and there is nothing on the support pages in the way of a tool for uninstalling GPU Tweak II.

I found another way to solve the problem. This worked to allow the uninstall.

I never had issues with the removal tool running on top of uninstallation from control panel.. ASUS creates a removal tool for everything (AURA, AI Suite III, GPU TweakII, etc..).

Yup, I'd agree. Most, if not all Asus software is a time bomb if you install it--stuff like AI Suite II and all the rest of it. That's why I don't use any of it except for the BIOS and GPU Tweak II. As for what worked for me, this did. It allowed an unistall and then I was able to install 2.3.3.0 no problem.
