Adding 980 Pro to Z590 E Gaming (WIFI) with i9 10850K and RTX 3090

Hello,

I just bought a brand new pre-built system from newegg with the below specs.

Intel Core i9 10850K 3.60GHz (5.20GHz Turbo), 10-Core 20-Thread
EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra Gaming 24GB
ASUS ROG STRIX Z590 E Gaming (WIFI)
G.Skill TridentZ RGB 32GB DDR4 3200MHz
1TB Intel 660P M.2 NVMe SSD
EVGA CLC 240mm RGB AIO
850W 80 Plus Gold PSU
Windows 10 Home 64-bit

I have couple of questions.

1) I want to replace the current 1TB Intel 660P drive to 1 TB Samsung 980 Pro M.2
2) I want to add a second 2 TB Samsung 980 Pro M.2
3) Can I still use the 1TB Intel 660P M.2 NVMe SSD on any other slot or should I remove it permanently.
4) Will the GPU in Slot1 be affected by adding the new PCIE 4.0 drives

I'm not an expert when it comes to PCIE 3.0 vs 4.0 and number of lanes required for x8 vs x16. Would appreciate your advice on how can I extract the best performance from the system.

Thanks,
Paul

All should be in the manual tho? However, do keep in mind that using 10th gen cpus on yourt z590 board means that the first m.2 slot is disabled (m.2_1, the top one), and that the only cpu-bound m.2 slot is the m.2_2. Also, it means that you have a pcie 4.0 nvme that will only run at pcie 3.0 speeds.

I don't know if adding the drive to the m.2_2 slot will affect the nº of lanes available to the cpu, but this motherboard seems to run the same configuration as my apex, so... it should make it drop from 16x to 8x.

TL;DR, unless you go to 11th gen, you're restricted to only pcie 3.0 in all of the nvme slots and you will have the first one disabled. first nvme slot needs an 11th gen processor. Also pcie 4.0 is only available on 11th gen, which means that you spent too much in an already overrated nvme drive (samsung is good, but it's not good enough for the asking price of those drives).
