102-103c peak GPU hotspot temp on G513QY RX6800M is normal for you too?

I wonder, anyone seeing his GPU hotspot peaking at 102-103c while GPU core around 80c? during heavy stuff like crysis remastered, 3dmark firestrike/timespy?

Screen shot of temps after 10 minutes session in Crysis Remastered:

I played like hour ago, so you wont see high current temps, see the MAX temps.... game was sitting hotspot gpu around 97-99 with micro spikes fluctuation to 103c. GPU Core temps pretty solid, CPU temp also solid.

Thanks!

P.S. I am on Liquid Metal both CPU and GPU.

I'm getting the same thermals on my G17 model in a few games (e.g. Flight Simulator). Stock cooling + cooling pad. Ambient around 22c.

Blake these are normal temps? all safe?

Hi there,
It seems high. How about in Armoury Crate?
Does the fan speed up and lower the temperature after a while?
Thank you.

Hey Blake,

In a heavy gaming and firestike as example, gpu Hotspot temp would fix itself around 95-99c, could sit pretty long at 99c itself, and spike for seconds to 102-103c zone. This is with fans at MaX speed,
Strangely, it will spike to 102-103c even if we add cooling pad and 2 x vacuum coolers. Couldn't stop it from hitting this leak gpu Hotspot for some reason, unless I reduce the tdp in crate to around 140-150 zone from its 190w zone default.

GOU die is fine, it's normally 20c below hotspot 75-85c zone.

Hi there,
Does it show the same temperature in Armoury Crate too?
Does the laptop lag or has any symptom related to overheating?
Thank you.

Hi Blake,

Good set of questions you got here:

1. Armoury Crate presents the GPU die temp, hence, it shows a reasonable low temp which is approx 20c lower than the GPU hotspot temp which I can observe under:

A. Windows Task Manager (Performance Tab)
B. HWinfo64 Sensors section
C. GPU-Z Sensors section

If we pay attention to GPU Die temp only, these are incredibly fine, but GPU hotspot temp is where it gets to 103c at quick peaks and fixes around 95-100c during the gaming/benchmark period.

Now, while discussing to multiple owners of AE laptop, one guy had similar peaks to 103c and others peaks around 97-99c on hotspot of GPU.

Example, this one shared his temps after 3DMARK Firestrike, his peaked at 99c on hotspot and 82c at GPU Die, his GPU Die similar temps to mine, but hotspot GPU certianly peaks lower:

D. I wouldn't say that I see some overheating errors/symptoms besides actual temps, sure leyboard becomes warmer and laptop surface turns hot at some areas, but thats normal behavior.

Thank you!

GPU-Z info:

(I set view all MAX sensor values) those values after I ran firestrike....

so my GPU hits 182W during firestrike, right?
