Question. Is installing the "latest" ME firmware onto a motherboard with an older BIOS version likely to cause any issues?

My Z690 Hero is still running 1003. I'm kind of waiting for the latest issues to be resolved before I upgrade it (as I have a lot of customizations it will be a pain to restore), but I'd like to update the ME if that's okay.

I have a strix z690 F gaming wifi.

I have installed the latest Intel ME Firmware you have posted.
Also latest Bios is installed!

XMP is now working but i still only can get around 33000 Points in Cinebench C23
Cooling is not a problem CPU is only getting around 80 C
Powerusage is 250-260W
CPU Utilization shows only 60-70& under CPUID HW Monitor

Processor is a 13900K
Windows 11 22H2
Nvidia 3090 FE with latest drivers!
32 GBDDR5 6000Mhz Ram is installed

Bios is in stock Config only XMP 1 is enabled

Any idiea what else coud be wrong !

I am really dont know what else i can try.
Even rasing the Powerlimit leads only to a scoreof 33600 instaed of 32800
with enforce all Lmits.

Intel Me from asus pages is Version 16.1.25.1885 from 22.09.22 is it the same or your is newer ?

You just have to look at the firmware version number to understand that the latest firmware I offer here is newer. However I think what made you doubt is the date used by ASUS in your motherboard support page and the date displayed next to the version number here. Note that ASUS always displays the release date, and I always display the firmware build date from Intel.

Even if there shouldn't be any major worries, I don't advise you to do it.

It is more optimal to use the Intel ME firmware branch around which the BIOS and its microcodes is built :

BIOS 2004 or newer : Intel ME Firmware 16.1.xx.xxxx
BIOS 1720 or older : Intel ME Firmware 16.0.xx.xxxx

thanks so much now i am on your drivers with my z690 apex. the ME firmware take a long time. Bios 2103, ME FW Version is 16.1.25.2020.
if i read correct the data i am also with the correctr drivers also. I think! Happy weekend

You're using the last one, don't worry :

Intel (R) FW Update Version : Intel ME Firmware Update Tool version currently used.
FW Version : Intel ME Firmware version currently installed.

Note that you can also check the Intel ME Firmware version currently installed in another way besides :

- Main tab of your BIOS.
- Firmware tab in the Properties of your Intel MEI device in your Device Manager (System devices > Intel(R) Management Engine Interface #1).
