I hope it is soon. I considered the gene but I am running dual 7979 video cards and the spacing of the PCI-E slots on the Gene are just to close together.

It is pretty disappointing that Asus didn't have a full size ROG Z77 motherboard ready for the launch of Ivy bridge. Typically it's the hardcore users that will be the first to move to a new platform and we want a full featured board not micro ATX board.

IVY is not a enthusiast product according to Intel. It is a main stream product and the improved onboard graphics make the CPU ideal for a HTPC system. The LGA2011 processors (X79) are the extreme or the enthusiast CPU's. This is the Intel view by the way.

The Gene is pretty powerful in its own right make no bones about it. But I too would have liked to see a full sized extreme version on launch.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

You are correct that according to intel I should be going with the x79 chipset but just like with sandy bridge, as far a gaming is concerned there is no benefit to paying the extra money for the x79 platform. I seriously considered getting an x79 system but to get the cheapest unlocked CPU and the rest of the X79 platform I was looking at an extra $500 for the setup. For a gaming system I am much better off getting a z77 system and a second video card with that extra $500.

Raja posted about it elsewhere. http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1038700278

Looks like an announcement at Computex but isn't that June 5th? Which means to me at least a month seeing that no news to the contrary has been heard recently.

I read that post and I could interpret that reply in two different ways. The formula would be released within a month of Computex or the formula will be released within this month and the extreme version will be announced at Computex. There is a preview video on youtube with an Asus representative and he stated that the formula should be released the middle of May.

I saw that video and guy from motherboards.org said middle of next month (video was posted April 18th I think) release and JJ said "it should be around that time frame". I guess we can hope for the best but things happen and delays happen. I'll just use the M5G until the M5F eventually comes out and get that if it is worth it. Whatever the outcome I will always use Asus motherboards. They have never let me down.

Anyone know the origin of the ''4 months delay'' rumour? I am sitting here looking for a replacement for the M5F in case it really is this much delayed. Really want this board, I am just not sure if it is worth waiting like this for ;(
