Z690 Maximus Hero and GSkill Trident Z5 6000 CL 36
I recently installed 4 sticks of G.Skill Trident Z5 6000 CL36 (6000U3636E16GX2) into my Z690 Maximus Hero board. The RAM runs fine and the system is stable at 4800 using no XMP settings, but when I try to switch to either XMP I or II, the system fails to boot and enters safe boot mode after about 5 minutes.
I saw this thread talking about burnout on the motherboard, and it seems like others have had similar issues, so I'm not in a hurry to get this working, but it seems like others have gotten it working. Has anyone else had problems or figured how to get it to boot using the 6000/CL36 XMP settings? I've installed the latest BIOS, 0803. I saw someone else mention there was another, newer BIOS, but I hesitate to install a beta version. Maybe this will fix it. UPDATE: The now officially released 0811 firmware did not fix this issue either.
I also noticed this RAM is not on the QVL yet, nor are any other modules with this low of timing.
Thanks!Last edited by ShannyMan; 12-23-2021 at 02:29 AM.

I'm running the same G-skill Trident Z5 6000mhz cl36 2x16gb memory modules at 6200mhz cl36 at stock volts without a problem. Last bios and current bios. Seems even better since last bios for me. Maximus Hero i9 12900K. 3 core @ 55/8 @ 54 ratio. Has been solid for me. So the parts are compatible and do work.

I was able to get it working by selecting the XMP I setting, but then changing the frequency to 5600. I left everything else (voltage, CL, etc) as set by the XMP. So far it's been stable. Still hoping there's a future update to fix it and allow all four sticks to run at 6000.

hey thanks for the update! I have the exact same memory, so TWO packs of 2x16. I think if yours is stable at 5600MHz then I should be in good shape when I build my system. This weekend it will be done
Â*
Again, thanks for keeping this thread going as many of us are having issues with the same set up of 4 sticks of G.Skill’s C36 6000MHz 16GB RAM. Gave me hope as I was about to return my RAM!
I will post my updates on this thread as well.Â*
Whenever you see this, please post how stable your system has been on 5600MHz?
Cheers!Â*

I'm glad this has been helpful for you. I was gaming last night for a few hours and didn't experience any issues. So far 5600 has been very stable for me. I'll keep running it today with some more games and maybe have some more apps running just for some additional load, and I'll report back if I encounter any problems.
Prior to that, I also tried 5800 and 5867. 5800 wouldn't boot, and oddly 5867 seemed fine at first, but then BSOD after a couple of minutes just hanging out in Windows.
Good luck, and let us know what your experience is!
