Clean-installing Windows 11 on GX703HS, installer cannot detect the drive - solved

Hello! I want to do a clean install of Windows 11 on my Asus ROG Zephyrus G17 (GX703HS) but when I boot the Windows installer from an USB, it doesn't detect the SSD (Samsung MZVL22T0HBLB). The drive is detected by UEFI and I can boot to Windows that are installed on it. I am only not able to do a clean install.

Tutorials I found online suggest disabling CSM so that the drive would appear. My laptop does not seem to have that option in it's UEFI. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Some additional details: both the SSD and my USB drive are using GPT, I have disabled the secure boot option in UEFI, I'm running the latest available UEFI version.

I hope someone has had a similar experience with their laptop so they can point me to the right direction. 🙂

Im thinking the usb flash drive is missing a necessary driver. There is a similar issue on HP devices with 11th gen processors maybe not same as yours?https://www.tenforums.com/installation-upgrade/177442-cannot-see-hdd-when-trying-do-clean-install-w1...*

Scroll down to the hp link in the above thread.*

Here is a good guide for clean install of win11 that might help https://www.elevenforum.com/t/clean-install-windows-11.99/

From the guide I posted there is also instructions linked for creating the usb flash drive. Here is that link to create the flash drive

The solution was to have the IRST driver on the installation drive so I can load it during installation. I have only tried using the Samsung driver for the SSD before, it didn't occur to me that I actually needed an Intel driver.

Thank you! I hope this thread will help other people in the future too!
