Asus Z690 APEX - Q-code 53 when restarting but never on cold boot.

Hi,

So I'm having this weird issue I can't seem to find a solution for. I have a Z690 Apex with a 12900K (I removed any OC to crosscheck if it was that issue). I have a Corsair Vengeance kit DDR5 at 5600MHz (yes, not on QVL but it's the same memory chip and speeds as other QVL modules).

My system works perfectly fine except when I want to restart. On cold boots and shutdowns everything works fine. On every restart the board get stuck to Q-code 53. Only solution is to reset with the power button and do another cold boot from scratch. Anyone ever had the same issue? Any solution?

I'm running latest BIOS 1101 but any previous one had the same issue. I ran MemTest86 and memory is absolutely stable. Tried to search for a similar issue but when I searc for Q-code 53 I only find tons of threads about the Hero board...

Thanks for any input!

Hi fumap,
Do you have the issue since first built?
Does it also occur with bios all default settings?
Do you have other ram on our QVL list to crosscheck?
Thank you.

Hi,

thanks for the answer!

1) Yes, it happens since I had the board in my system.
2) I tried with default settings and I don't see the issue at all, might be something to do with the RAM not being QVL.
3) Don't have another DDR5 kit, so can't try this solution at all.

I tried with the only XMP profile active and no other change to the BIOS (other than the fan profile) and the issue is there.

My DDR5 kit is the following for reference: CMK32GX5M2B5600C36

Do you think there is any other solution to this? Maybe a future BIOS update?
If you have any extra idea or setting I could try in the BIOS, let me know.

Thanks for the help!!

Hi fumap,
If you restart from the bios utility, does it also get stuck to Q-code 53?
May I have the following information?
- the serial number of your motherboard via PM
- the brand and model name of your graphics card, PSU, OS drive
- OS version and OS buils
- the bios settings(.CMO file) and a picture of XMP profile
Thank you.

Hi fumap,
There is different version on the Corsair ram model.
Please refer to the following picture to check the version of your ram.
It would be better to take a picture same as mine.

Thank you.

Here you go. Both DIMMs have the same values in the BIOS.
