Any update on this chip as far as release date? Looks to have modest increase in performance over the standard 12900K. Heat is really going to be a problem at 150W. I guess bios update will be needed.

I have seen some benches from a couple people and so far from what I have seen if you have a decent 12900k or 12900kf no reason to buy the KS.

Higher boost clock is always nice, but the benefit over a K or KF will be marginal. None of these Alderlake chips are particularly eco friendly, so a slight bump in TDP isn't really going to make much difference.

My problem is the IMC on the chip that I have currently. Difficult to get memory stability. Kits are ok per memtest86. I was going to try another chip and retest. Silicon lottery of course. I grabbed one of those ks chips at Newegg and I guess they are now gone. Product is not there anymore.

Personally I would hold off on buying the 12th-Gen KS chip, hoping for golden IMC.

Silicon lottery aside,.. wait for 13th-Gen benchmarks/reviews, perhaps go with Raptor Lake chip vs 12th-Gen KS chip.

Still wonder if a bios update is necessary. Can’t find where the is chip has been officially announced.

Wonder the same thing.

When NE announced 4-5 days back KS was available, I ordered it, supposed to be delivered today. Yesterday, my UPS tracker suddenly changed to saying "sender requested return". Now UPS tracker says April 1 delivery; are they joking? NE customer support knew nothing and after 15 minutes on the phone could find no info. A second call finally produced an answer that "an email would be sent explaining the situation".

Same here, but nothing was said about an email to explain it. ??? Â*

I certainly wouldn't upgrade for IMC quality, but as always lottery is involved. I'm unclear on whether a UEFI update will be needed, but quite possibly.

Just can’t get stability with my current GSKILL kit. Figured a different cpu may help. I’ll keep tuning. Thanks for the input!!
