This might be a long shot but here goes.

I'm attempting to upgrade to win 10 from 7 and it fails on safe_os boot. So reading online some say to update my bios. Which I managed to do from 1101 to 1202.

Now I've tried going higher but the files are all .cap and not .Rom,
So when I plug my stick in ez flash 2 doesn't read anything.is 1202 the limit my board can go to? is there a way to upgrade my bios higher to help me with win 10 installation? Or shouldn't this matter at all?

Any info would help so much as I'm stumped at this point

Hi,

the latest version is 4901 wich should be easily upgradable. Have it currently running on my own system. BIOS version 2002 and newer needed an extra step to update your BIOS version, I'll copy paste it here below.

Version 2002
2012/07/30 3.55 MBytes
Rampage IV Extreme BIOS 2002
1. Improve system stability.
2. BIOS structure changed from .ROM to .CAP for Windows 8 full-functionality.

*If your BIOS version is 1404 or older, please install the BIOS Converter first before you update the BIOS. The BIOS Converter is available in the BIOS Utilities.

Thanks for the reply. So I need to update to 2002 first? Is there a link to the bios convertor? I've tried to look and can only find the read me exe.

Do I install the converter on the bios page first?

Thanks a bunch i will give this a shot first chance i can, do you think updating my bios to atleast 2002 will help with the win10 installation? im just trying to get it to upgrade is all.

Updating to W10 should be no problem, W11 needs the tpm module wich is not possible on this motherboard.
