Rog crosshair viii dark hero & sli on PCIEX16_3
Hey all,
I've installed 2x ASUS Strix 2080 Ti (with NVLink bridge) to get SLI but the initial problem I got was that the cards wer.e too close to each other thus the temp of the one that's above was too high.
Then I've moved the bottom one to the bottom PCIEX16_3 slot while the first one stayed in PCIEX16_1
Once I've botted up the machine, the SLI isn't working and I think the culprit is PCIEX16_3 that's working in x4 mode.
According to this https://www.build-gaming-computers.c...uirements.html "Two available PCIe x16 slots on your motherboard that will run at x8 (ideally the full x16 lanes) with multiple GPUs installed. SLI is not supported if a slot runs at x4." it would be likely the main problem.
AFAIK, NVLink isn't necessary if I am not planning to use memory pooling.
Any advice here?
How can I get the PCIEX16_3 work in x8 mode?
My CPU is AMD Ryzen 9 5950X.

It is not possible. Look at the motherboard from below.
There are no physical links.Last edited by Rolda; 07-21-2022 at 03:51 PM.
