Seeing Auto-Update Activity in Log Even When Auto-Update Option Disabled

I am still paying close attention to what it happening on my new Asus GS-AX3000 router.

I personally despise auto-updating and so I disable it at every occasion. I have done so on this router in the Administration Settings, Firmware Upgrade tab. I do not think this could be more specific.

Yet I see the following in the router's log:

Aug 12 04:36:23 WATCHDOG: [FAUPGRADE][auto_firmware_check:(7346)]retrieve firmware information
Aug 12 04:36:23 WATCHDOG: [FAUPGRADE][auto_firmware_check:(7360)]fimrware update check first time
Aug 12 04:36:23 WATCHDOG: [FAUPGRADE][auto_firmware_check:(7388)]no need to upgrade firmware
Aug 12 04:36:54 WATCHDOG: [FAUPGRADE][auto_firmware_check:(7346)]retrieve firmware information
Aug 12 04:36:54 WATCHDOG: [FAUPGRADE][auto_firmware_check:(7365)]fimrware update check once
Aug 12 04:37:24 WATCHDOG: [FAUPGRADE][auto_firmware_check:(7346)]retrieve firmware information
Aug 12 04:37:24 WATCHDOG: [FAUPGRADE][auto_firmware_check:(7360)]fimrware update check first time
Aug 12 04:37:24 WATCHDOG: [FAUPGRADE][auto_firmware_check:(7388)]no need to upgrade firmware

Why is this happening? Given that I have disabled the function, why should the router be doing anything like this? And should a new firmware become available, will it ignore my settings and update anyhow?

Thanks
