Z790 APEX Availability Overclocking and Playtime Thread : )

You will need a working PC, or laptop to download LAN driver on USB flash drive first.

After installing Windows on Z790 board,.. than install LAN driver on Z790 board with USB flash drive.

Second log-onto internet with Z790, install all Windows updates,..

Then go with 0703 BIOS on a freshly formatted USB drive, use the BIOSrenamer tool, install.

Than install Intel ME, and Chipset drivers.

You should be good to go.

That's what I've always done, installed Windows then the LAN driver from USB.

But this time Windows Installation WILL NOT complete. So I cannot install the LAN driver, I get this screen:



There are no options on this Windows installation page, I'm just STUCK - this be crazy man!

Bruce, I still don't know if you have read my messages here, but you CAN install Win 11 without a network connection. Look through the previous posts or search for "Install Windows 11 without network" on YouTube.

Snagged an i9-13900KS chip Pre-Order on Tuesday morning for $725.28 US.

Listed Tuesday morning for $971.99 CAD on PC-Canada.com,.. they had 200 listed for Pre-Order.

Geez they sold out fast.

Seems when the i9-13900KS chips arrive in stock,.. the first 200 will be sent to Pre-Orders,.. as now site says Back Ordered.

Hopefully you have a working ethernet cable, if so your best option is plug ethernet cable into back panel I/O Intel 2.5Gb port.

Reinstall Windows, perform a new clean install, reformatting drive,..

When Windows asks you to set-up your account click NOT NOW or I don't have internet,.. and you should boot into Windows,.. then you install your LAN drivers and set up your account afterwards.

At that terrible windows "Let's get you connected" page I used:

SHIFT + F10 - to drop into Command Prompt
Then typed OOBE\BYPASSNRO then ENTER

Computer restarts back to windows setup then that terrible windows page again and I clicked "I don't have internet"

Then got into windows.

But the weird thing is when I finally got into windows 11 I was already online, didn't need to install the LAN driver - How weird is that?

I guess you dial in your mem kit overclocks and hang it on the wall as some sort of achievement, lol I dunno.

I like it though ROG odometer - it looks fun!

And by the way my CPU thermals are outstanding idle P-core temps 24C 25C 26C, all 6cores, NO NEED for that CPU socket stabilizer thingy, the EKWB Quantum Magnitude is a heck of a nice water block, amazing level of precision. And I have all three TG pastes Hydronaut, Kryonaut, and Kryonaut Extreme (pink stuff), I went with Kryonaut, since I got such amazing results using Kryonaut with my Z590 Apex and a Noctua air cooler 2days ago, better thermals than either Noctua paste. Even for air - Go Kryonaut!

Have enjoyed amazing thermals since completing my test bench simple water loop, it might be since I didn't use a reservoir and it's CPU only and that Aquacomputer PWM D5 is so powerful even running at 50% it moves the tiny internal volume of coolant around the short loop so fast. It's my 5th water loop and the best I've ever created.

And all moving parts pump and fans are fully isolated and inaudible, I couldn't be happier with the loop.

I did not buy or use a CPU contact frame and my Raptor Lake CPU thermals are outstanding.

The Gskill DDR5 7800 and 8000 mem kits listed at the websight 3days ago. WOW that's fast.

I'll grab the 8000 kit along with a 13900KS and a gen 5 SSD in Q1 2023. Hoping my 13600K and 7600 kit can at least run XMP and maybe 7800...

Wow, Raptor Lake is really fast, even my little i5 13600K is very fast even at stock, loving this new gen.

Got a WD_Black SN850 M.2 nvme SSD gen 4 mounted under the Apex 15's massive heatsink, will move to gen 5 when they arrive.

Got my lighting set up - dim white ideal for a work build.
