SSD Replacement/Upgrade Help

EDIT: SOLVED - Talked to an Intel representative and he helped me choose the one from NewEgg. I am buying the one with the desktop-mounting kit since I can't find any with the laptop-mounting kit. THANKS EVERYONE!

Hi, everyone.

I have the standard SSD that comes with the G74SX-DH72, but I want to replace it with a better SSD, specifically this one: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167086

Thing is, I also want to make sure I copy everything from my old SSD and transfer it all to the new one, as if nothing changed. You know? A complete migration. Anyone know how to do this?

I need all the steps required to do all of this. If anyone has a thread (with pictures, preferably), that'd be much appreciated.

Also, you think this SSD I want is good? I looked on the Intel site and it suggested that one for gamers, so...

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: There is another matter, which should I buy from?

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/search.asp?cat=5298&keywords=Intel 520&mnf=&lowprice=0&highprice=0
OR
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100006693&IsNodeId=1&Description=Intel+52...

One has a black ring, the other one doesn't. Also, NewEgg offers a "kit" that includes screws, cables, etc.

THIS IS FOR MY G74SX, not a desktop.

Speaking of which...which one is the HDD and which one is the SSD? o_O;

I don't need a clean install; I'd rather just transfer everything from the old SSD to the new one.

Also, that guide seems a bit complicated for me. @__@ Can I like, take it to Best Buy, or ask Geek Squad or something to do it for me?

Try Partedmagic I think it might help.

Well then you should get an intel ssd, because they should come with a data transfer program that transfers your whole os too the new intel ssd.

Actually, another question:

I noticed differences, albeit slight, between:

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/search.asp?cat=5298&keywords=intel%20520&mnf=&low...
and
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100006693&IsNodeId=1&Description=Intel%20...

The way they look, for one, look different; also, I think the ones on newegg have a slightly faster rate of 520 whereas the former indicate 500, but it might just be an error? Iunno. What do you guys think? :S Iunno if one of them is outdated or maybe it's just something else I don't understand. Thanks.

Hmm... for me it looks like they have used one picture they did find and used that to show how it looks....

If you check out the picture in this review http://www.anandtech.com/show/5508/intel-ssd-520-review-cherryville-brings-reliability-to-sandforce you can see that most of them are with the black ring around it and one is blank. It seems like it shows how much GB it got (or how to explain it)

But Intel SSD 520 is not a bad choice 🙂 I would purchased one myself but it's just to expensive to buy one with some space on it 😛

So either of the two sources I listed are the same? o-o And if so, which one would you recommend buying from? Also, originally, I was gonna buy the 240GB one, but it's just too expensive, so I am upgrading to the 180GB one instead. It's a 60GB upgrade, roughly, from my 128GB one, but it's still good, so. That and the fact that the one that comes with this one might possibly be slower than the one I want.

EDIT: It's a 320 with 160GB (although only 128GB of it is actually usable. 520 is supposed to be way faster, so...

About recommendation from which online store to buy from I don't want to say since I've never bought any items from them. 😛
