G53SX-XN1 Fan and Warranty

The GPU fan seems to be struggling in this laptop. Imagine the sound of a hotel air conditioning. I have a couple of quick questions.

1. My warranty ends tomorrow. I filled out the online form and received my RMA number a couple of weeks ago, but have not been able to ship it yet. By the time they receive the laptop, it will be past the warranty date. Will they still accept it if the RMA request was submitted prior to the warranty expiring, even if it is not shipped until after the warranty expires?

2. Are the GPU fans available for purchase anywhere if I choose to attempt to make the repair myself?

I think the RMA dates to when the ticket was created, so you should be okay. It's hard to find the right fans and cooling assembly for any particular laptop, and hard to replace them unless you're very adept at computer disassembly (and re-assembly).

I'd say just ship it out tomorrow and get it fixed for free. The sooner you get it out the door, the sooner it comes back fixed. 🙂
