Alright the g75vw DS71 has the 660m that is pretty damn overclock-able and if can perform at the 670m's with lower power and heat output.

The g75vw DS72 had a 120 or 160gb ssd already in it and has the 670m that is just and 570m clocked a little higher.

Both have Blu-ray, FHD screens(matte), and the 3610qm i7 ivybirdge.

Ive been doing research and both models will be able to play D3 and GW2 on max/high at 30 fps+.

if i remember right the DS72 has a blu-ray writer if i remember correctly.

i don't know about Terra so i won't comment there.

ps. i signed in for the first time in months just to post. and i have a g75vw DS71 ordered already.

Basically what Holy said

The AS 71 Has
*Core i7 3610QM 2.3GHz
*Nvidia GT 660M (2gb GDDR5)
*16gb DDR3 Memory (1600MHz)
*750gb 7200RPM Hard Drive
*DVD RW/ CD RW

The DS 72
*Core i7 3610QM 2.3GHz
*Nividia GTX 670M (3gb GDDR5)
*16gb DDR3 Memory (1600MHz)
*750gb 7200RPM Hard Drive and 256gb Solid State Drive
*Blu-Ray

The AS 71 is listed at 1499.99 on Amazon right now, and the DS 72 is listed at 2099.99 (But out of stock)
Difference is the Graphics card, the extra SSD, and Blu-ray.

On Newegg.com you can find this configuration:

NS 72
*Core i7 3620QM 2.6GHz
*Nvidia GTX 670M (3gb GDDR5)
*16gb DDR3 Memory (1600MHz)
*750gb 7200RPM Hard Drive and 256gb Solid State Drive
*Blu-Ray

This verson is on sale for 2149.99 (reg 2199.99) the only differece is the upgraded CPU to the 3620QM.

I too am about to purchase a new laptop and have been trying to decide on the NS 72 version or an Alienware m17x, which would probably be around 2300-2400 the way i want to configure. I think i'm going to go with the G75 though. It just seems like your getting a better deal and a good warranty. Also Alienware is running at about a month before they are shipping out, so your looking at end of May or first week of June before you would get it.

I know the ns72 has a 1year warrenty instead of a 2 year not sure if its the same for the as71. Also please note that for some reason i read as71 as ds71. The DS71-73 are the asus default builds. I believe that they have been held back because intel inspects the laptops that have thunderbolt ports. I owe my knowledge of this from resellers so unless someone confirms it. Its not official.

the problem is that i dont live in the U.S so i cant order from new egg so amazon is my only place to get a laptop from, alienware was my other option because in my country threes a alienware dealer (Kuwait) is there alot of difference between the g75vw and the alienware m17x with the same specs difference 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ HD 7970M by default but i heard the new m17 build quality isnt as good as the older versions

I believe Asus and Alienware are both great quality brands with Asus being a better value. Alienware has more aesthetics with their alien fx lighting and hence more expensive. It comes down to personal preference. Both machines are amazing.

I personally just ordered the newegg G75 and am super excited about it! The amazon models are great too in my opinion.

Whatever you decide you really can't go wrong with either choice. Good luck in deciding! I know it's hard!

Also, I'm not used to using radeon cards but from a little research the 7970 is a good card.

I would also give the edge to Asus. I like both, I really do. But I think you still, to this day, pay a bit of a premium for the name Alienware.
They are more competitive then they have ever been... they have to be with so much competition now.... but again they haven't quite price matched the competitors.

Ds72 has a ssd the ts72 has a 1 year warrenty instead of a 2 year and has no ssd.

The ds72 comes with an rog mouse and bacpack

Tye ultra rouge that you can get bundled with the g75 will not fir the g75 in it.
