Sound card dead, good timing, or not?

As of this morning, my computer will no longer boot with my 6 year old X-Fi Elite Pro soundcard in it. I knew it was on its last legs as my speakers were making weird noises throughout the day for the last two months, even when not playing any audio.

So the question is, how much longer on this Phoebus sound card, or should I just go and get one of the older Xonar's? I thought this thing was suppossed to be out already.

Should be out this month, June at the very latest.

I really hope it is not June. 😞 The website I pre-ordered it from shows a potentially available date as early as next week sometime...

Thanks for actually keeping us in the loop on the time-frame. Obviously I would not have wanted to be without a soundcard for over a month - especially since I am still playing Skyrim, so I went ahead and got a Creative Recon 3D. That thing is mediocre at best and sounds worse than my 6 year old X-FI ELite Pro that it replaced. I expect much better sound out of the Phoebus, but for now this works.

I plan on taking it out and putting it in my wife's machine when the Phoebus comes out - hopefully soon!

I am not sure where you are in the world, but I just got mine from www.excaliberpc.com.

Thanks for the heads up. I am not entirely sure they have them in stock though even though you can place an order with them. Amazon is also taking pre-orders now, so I just went with them. Sounds like we aren't too far out now on getting our hands on these things!
