I like a GENE board that is <$200. Given that it is a smaller form factor and I'm going to be giving up some features I don't feel like I should be breaking the bank.

I know I already have an Intel Rampage III Extreme already (lol), but I plan on getting a ROG board for my AMD build.

@Brian- For Maximus IV GENE, I say around ~$150-$180, could be a little lower.
For Maximus IV Formula, I say around ~$200-$230

if you do plan on making the next Crosshair for AMD then,

    Crosshair V Extreme ~$200+
    Crosshair V Formula ~$160
Crosshair V GENE ~$120, could be a little lower

Please note, I am just giving an estimate cost. But it really depends on the features that each board has which make the outcome different a bit.

And my oh my, look at that poll, the Crosshair GENE is really in DEMAND! Lol! I knew it would be a great addition to the Crosshair lineup. I just never know why ASUS never came up with it in the first place.

    I hope this helps.

No water coolers care about my idea for a high wattage pump header? Oh well.

Hey Brian@asus, how 'bout posting a "list box" or a poll for voting on ideas once we get enough? We're already up to over 10 non-asthetic suggestions.

    1) high watt water pump header.
    2) USB 3.0 (duh)
    3) x16/x16 SLI/crossfire capibility (3 way is a bit ridiculous at this level)
    4) 64-bit EUFI for new 3tb drives
    5) standard pci layout
    6) headers & power/reset onboard
    7) ROG Connect (also duh)
    8) High-power USB for faster charging
    9) Dual-LAN
    10) Crosshair IV Formule style heatsinks
    11) WLAN slot for Gene
    12) 7.1 sound
    13) Sata6
    14) Lucid? (Linux I assume)
    15) glowing ROG symbol's brightness represents CPU power draw (likely wouldn't be noticable)
    16) around $200 for the Gene and $250 for the Formula.

Thank you all who contributed the ideas on the list and shame on you who didn't want the new tech. Rejection of progress is a sign of stuborness and insanity, maybe

Wow, what Raisethe3 basically said pretty much sums it up. Also, I like to note that I really like the idea of probe meter. It's really cool feature to have.

Anyways, I am an AMD user, and I have the Crosshair III Formula. But I am looking to upgrade to Bulldozer once it comes out. I would definitely love to get a Crosshair V Gene.

I've never liked that design for pumps. I prefer to wire manage the case so that the pump is powered from 4 pin molex connected behind the motherboard tray. It looks cleaner and it's one less point of failure for the operation of my pump. A header also assumes that everyone mounts their pump in the same place(unless you upgrade all headers which would just add cost). I understand where you're coming from though, less wires.

the Lucid is a chip which is equal to nVidia's NF200 chip but also works with CrossFire, so u can achieve a x16/x16 CF or SLI setup
it's not Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, which i think u meant

    btw, nice summup

I would like to see full x16/x16 pci-e 2.0 or 3, 4 sata 6gbps ports at lower left hand edge of the board at right angles for neater cable tidy, no ide connector, full usb 3 support I would like the slots to go PCI-E x16 then PCI-E x4, Then PCI-E x16 then PCI-E 1, USB 3 Headers at right angles, FP header at right angle, light up red ROG h'sink dual gigabit lan no PS2 ports some sort of directional airflow stuff like the P67 sabertooth oh and it must make my cuppa in the morning too.

PS dont know much bout the lucid or the nf200 but have heard they can create lag or latency to the effect that it's better just to have an x8x8 config ;?

Oh and only 5.1 sound to reduce costs

I am fine with that being on the Extreme or Formula, but not on the GENE. I mean a "GENE" isn't suppose to have "exquisite" stuff on the board. Just minimal/optimal components to run and that's it. Like I said in other posts, it should resemble something like Intel's Rampage III GENE.

Oh also, I totally forgot about Lucid, I think it would be a nice addition to have on ALL ROG boards. Just my 2 cents.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all/ almost all WCers mount their pumps on the case bottom or in a drive bay? That means only 2 headers max would be needed. Plus, alot of pumps are fixed speed and it's hard to find a simple speed contoler that can handle 20 watts+. We can just leave it for a vote later.

5.1 does make more sense, 7.1 is a bit much.
