Asus Gtx 690 red screen of death? Stuck on Loading VGA BIOS prepost.

Hi,

I have a thread going in rog rampage iv forum here which has now really turned into a GPU issue thread.
I wanted to start another here as its more applicable right 🙂

I was playing bf3 on my new Asus gtx 690 and rive bored when 15 minutes into the game, the screen goes bright red and pc hangs.
I had to hard reset to power off. I power on pc and this is where my problem starts...

During pre post bios checks on rampage iv extreme, the VGA led is lit and a debug code is 62.
Rog connect shows the following poster message: loading VGA bios. It doesn't progress past this point. I did once mind you since I've had this issue, but on once.

I have performed ever conceivable trouble fault find step possible to no effect. The 690 just doesn't seem to respond.

I'm going to return the card to shop tomorrow but thought it was worth posting here just incase. Incase of what I don't know. I am clueless.

RMA time for GTX 690 😕

I took it back to the shop today and they exchanged it for two 680's instead.
Just putting baby to sleep then it's my play time! 🙂

NVIDIA Potentially Recalling All GTX 670, 680, 690 Kepler Video Cards

There just had to be a catch. Nvidia’s Kepler cards, it turns out, kick out a red screen of death if you try and ‘trick’ them into rendering 2160p on a 1080p display. So I’m stuck momentary with ShiftWindow, a neat little app that lets you shrink a 2160p window down to a 1080p desktop. Ho-hum. It’s a lot less reliable than fullscreen driver-based downsampling, so hopefully these are just teething troubles for Nvidia’s new cards.
