Get the 680 and stick your 580 on ebay.

Well... it depends...

Which GTX 580 card do you have? Which GTX 680 would you buy?

The thing is that performance-wise two GTX 580s in SLI would be better than a single GTX 680... assuming that they are the same level ones (both of them reference cards or both of them OC'd in the same way)...

But the most important question is for what do you intend to use them? What are your system's other specs?

I have the ASUS GTX580 DirectCU II and I'm hoping to get the GTX 680 DirectCU II Top. I'm mainly going to use them for gaming and 3D surround and possibly some designing.

My current specs are
i5 2500K
Maximus IV extreme Z
GTX 580
16gb G.skill Ripjaw RAM
OCZ 120gb SSD
1000W cooler master pro
Corsair H80
ThermalTake Level 10 GT

Thanks

If I had your specs, I would use 580 in SLI.

Otherwise, I would get a PCIe 3.0 mobo with a 3570K, a Corsair H100 and then the said 680.
This just my personal opinion.

Yeap, the two GTX 580s in SLI would be the way I would go with too...

Thanks everyone I will go with the GTX 580 prices must have dropped now. Do you think it would perform better than the GTX 680

Thanks

The differnce between 8x and 16X is between 1% - 3% its not even worth thinking about for that small a performance boost.
