Can´t install a second GPU, help or advice plz.

Hi.
Got a Crosshair V Formula with a GTS 450 GPU & i can´t install a second different GPU, got a spare 9800 GT & a 9800 GX2 which i would like to use for a second monitor & PhysX while gaming.
Tried both on slot 3(won´t fit elsewhere), but neither shows up in bios even though the fans are spinning & the 9800 GX2 shows a green power LED, so that would suggest that the spares are ok.

Thnx in advance.


Btw, this combo worked fine on my retired Crosshair III.

I guess nothing shows up in the device manager in Windows?

Hi,
If you use only one card like 9800 GT or 9800 GX2 in firsth slot. Do you get signal for monitor then?

Yeah, but then i get no signal on any of the others on slot 3.
It´s like any card on slot 1 is locking slot 3 out.
As i´m going SLI soon, this issue worries me as i don´t want to buy 2 cards & only manage to get 1 working.
Especially as i´m on a tight budget atm & can´t really afford to buy something that doesn´t work 😞

That proves to us that, atleast your cards work . :cool:

It´s like any card on slot 1 is locking slot 3 out.

So you have tested that any these cards work on all slots if only one card is connected?
-- Basicly all MB slots work's..:confused:

EDIT: Have you tryed with that 4-pin. "molex" connected to MB? ASUS calls it EZ plug if i dont member wrong

Midsummer is a big thing for us Swedes too (my poor head lol)

Tested all slots except for slot 4 with 1 card as neither one fits there (too bulky cards), same goes for a slot 1 & 2 combo & yes, i used the ez plug too.

Heh nice, some pain killers and youl be fine :rolleyes:

So if every video card works on MB at any slot when used only one card, then i would think MB only wants SLI/CF-setup when used multiple video cards.

Or MB is somehow broken, but i dont know withs is right answer. 😞
I would think the firsth one, as all cards work and so seems the slots.

Have you tryed BIOS update?

2 diffrent cards dont work in sli that i know of, but i may be wrong. i have only tested 2 similar cards and not 2 diffrent cards.
