660m Performance Concern

I just bought the ASUS G75VW as a laptop to double for gaming and a college computer. It has a 660m. On Notebookcheck, it lists the 660M as being near equal to the 5770 (My current desktop graphics card) is this true and can this thing perform on par with the 5770? I know that with these laptops you can easily overclock about 5-10% without worry. I did try to overclock this thing a bit and got a 3Dmark equivalent to a 670M Which yet again Notebookcheck says is about 15% better than the 5770.

The thing that I am worried about is not being able to decently play intensive games. As far as I'm concerned my 5770 has met this expectation and I want to know if my laptop is at least able to compete with that.

why not run your benchmarks on your 5770 and compare them to the benchmarks you get on the 660m and go from there? If the numbers are similar, then you have your answer. If the numbers are better, then you also have your answer.

the benchmarks might not be too good, as far as accuracy goes untill the new nvidia drivers come out, but for now, it runs bf3 fine which is really all you can ask for on a laptop.

i would say at the VERY least its on par with the 5770, my G73jh has a 5870, and that's two notebook models ago. mine has a gtx670 and it eats just about every game i can throw at it for breakfast, including the guild wars 2 beta, skyrim and bf3, and the gtx660 is technically better than the 670 (a fact that i found out after i bought mine) because of the kepler architecture which the 670 does not have, which uses up less power, builds up less heat, and once OC'd apparently blows it away.

Im not so sure about that, while looking through 3Dmarks on my laptop some people with OCd 670ms which I assume are also in either an MSI or ASUS G75 due to the other specs, get around 3800-3900 in the GPU 3d Mark while the 660m gets around 2900-3050 when OCd. I mean, im sure these 660ms could last longer under that pressure due to their less heat and power but still, the OCd 660m is equal to the stock 670m. HOWEVER this could all be a driver issue due to the 670m being a redone 570m with more power which already is supported while the 660m Keplers are new and different.

Also, a 5870M is different than a 5870, a 5870M would be less than 1/2 the power of a 5770. Desktop Cards are always more powerful than their mobile counterparts.

Also, is there a reason why the 650m performs better in Diablo 3 than the 660m. Or is that another driver related problem

Also, after running 3Dmark on my desktop, i got a 2500 score for the GPU while on stock speeds the 660m is at 2300. However, something I DID notice is that the 5770 displayed its full Core Clock at 850 MHz while my 660M displayed the core clock at 405MHz, so there may be something to this driver thing after all.

How did you get those installed, mine claim that there is no compatible GPU

it was not compatible a few days ago , nvidia updated it , just download it again from the official geforce website http://www.geforce.com/drivers check under beta driver and remember selecting 64 bits system . thats it
