this is what they think of my build in http://www.minecraftforum.net
Unless you are doing a setup similar to that then the entire system is just a stupid overkill, its like buying a 1 million dollar super fast supercar and only use it on public roads and abiding by the speed limit. Its just stupid

List all the application you're intending to use on that system... let's see what and how much you need...

Well, for this part of your list, the above selected parts are definitely a huge overkill! All those things can be done on a 10-15 year old computer too...

What really matters are the "gaming" (not the Minecraft, some more serious ones) and "video rendering" - for the gaming part, and I repeat, for games which require serious hardware background, you may need 2 graphic cards... for video rendering you may need more than 8GB of RAM...

Not so sure about those games you mentioned... for me they don't seem very hardware-heavy... - but the best is to look around in the gaming section of this Forum...

Regarding the video rendering, I'm sure that you can do the youtube videos with 8GB too... it's just if you have 16GB, then may be faster...

Look, this is how I would proceed... take the max amount of money you want to invest in this new system, then choose the best available configuration you can... - this is my way to do it... will be an overkill? so what?!

One thing you should be aware: any money spent on computers is money thrown out of the windows... except if you're working on them and the profit earned would cover the cost (but it's not your case)

So, if you have that $2200 and you want a good computer, which will last for a while, then go with the last configuration you listed if it fits in your budget. If you want to save money and still use your computer for the things you mentioned above, then go with a $600-$800 system from BestBuy (or any similar store).
