How to reformat different drive?

Hello I am a total noob when it comes to computers.

I have 2 drives currently on my g53,
Drive C (OS) and Drive D (Data, but my games are here)

How to reformat only 1 drive, all I know is how to reformat the whole computer back to factory settings.

I believe that this is a partition as I haven't changed anything since I bought it a few months ago, I just want to reformat this drive for a fresh install since some fragmented files cannot be defragged.

Are you sure you have two drives? My G53 came with one drive, but it was formatted into two partitions. If you want to format the data drive/partition, go into "Computer" right-click on the drive, and select "Format". Windows will make sure that you really want to do so, then offer you choices in how to format the drive. The default settings are fine, as long as it selects NTFS.

For the OS drive, the process is a little trickier. Get out your recovery DVDs, and boot from them. Windows will offer to reinstall or repair. Format the appropriate partition, and install Windows to that one. You may have to choose advanced options to make sure that it does not do a factory restore.

Still, why do you think you need to reformat? A few fragmented files woll not slow down your computer.

Lol same as mine. one hdd but has 2 partitions. C and D (C is where the windows stuff is, D is for games and related apps)
I am a bit OCD as prior to defragging yesterday, my drive has always been showing 1% of fragmented files no matter how many times I defrag it.

1% is a minute number and nothing to worry about. 🙂

It's pretty unlikely that you could remove that 1% fragmentation without increasing the allocation unit size. It would probably require significant restacking or significant fragmentation of free space in order to fix that 1%.

+1 rep, @Gorman, trying to remove that 1% fragmentation is pointless and probably impossible.
