Currently putting together parts for a high end machine capable of doing anything under the sun save for the most rigorous of OCing and here is what I have so far: Motherboard:ASUS ROG Maximus V Extreme Processor:i7 3770k ivy bridge Power supply: Silverstone 1200w Case:Bitfenix Colossus Window/Venom lighting Ram:Corsair Vengance 16gb 1600mhz ddr3 sdram(damn sram not existing in such sizes yet) SSD:120gb OCZ Solid 3 HDD: 3TB Segate Graphics:Want an ASUS GTX 680 with 4gb of gddr5 but I cant find it anywhere so unless it exists its an Evga GeForce GTX 680 4gb gddr5 I just mainly need advice on whether this is overkill, underkill, what I should change ect. This is my second build...my first being about 5 years ago
Good solid components you have there. Figure out the video situation and get some good cooling and you should be able to handle almost anything out there right now.
Thanks guys 🙂 i think ill go with the vertex3 and im planning to go raid0 its just not in the budget atm. also graphics wise if i got a 4 gb 670 as opposed to 4gb 680 would i see a major difference? Also which would be better to get for future sli capabilities?
I wouldn't wait for your build but they are certainly on the cards for the future.
I agree with Zka - PSU is overkill for a single card, but plenty of room for another should you want since M5E supports up to 4-way SLI. Faster memory perhaps if you really want to try OCing? And no cooling selected yet 😉
The Colossus case is nice - great lighting - but it's cooling isn't high-end.
I plan to do 4way SLI later. As for the memory im looking to see if i can get at least 2080mhz within my budget and as for cooling im thinking full system liquid cooling but havent had any experience with it
