Cleaning my g55vw

Hi all,
I have been having trouble with my g55vw's fans, they became noisy and sometimes make the noise as if I there was a paper in the way/obstructing. Therefore, I have decided that I should open my baby up and clean or see what is wrong. The thing is I am terrified about breaking it, so I was wondering if somebody could post a guide or some images about how to access the fans to clean. I don't want to unscrew more than needed, and I need to know which screws to unscrew, you know to minimize exposure or potential problems.
Thank you a lot!

There should be a panel on the bottom that you remove to gain access to the fan filters. Try looking in the computer manual to see what it says. I know that the G75 has user-accessible fan filters, so I would assume that the G55 (Similar design) has the same feature.

Not a very easy task. In fact comething like this would take me hours.

G55 does not have a filter system as G75 does. I'm not even sure how effective that is anyway.

Try sticking a straightened paper clip into the fan to hold it still, then blowing the fans out with canned air. If you don't hold the fan blades steady, you can destroy the motor with the high RPMs. Try gently shaking the computer when it is off and listening for rattles. If nothing rattles around, then you are looking at a possibly damaged fan motor. The buzzing may be due to a blade scraping against something internally.

just leave all the screws in, stick a bowie knife in there and pry upwards, also, when you reattach it, i find its best to just set it in place and give it a good smack w/ the largest hammer you can find.

Ah...hammer therapy, good for the emotions...not so much for the computer...always seems to result in extra parts that just appeared...;)

My G55 is making the same noise. Asus told me to RMA because it is most likely a fan, but couldn't give me a timeline on how long it would take and also told me that i would be responsible for paying to ship my computer to them after spending 1500+ dollars on it just 30 days ago. I told them i won't do it and that their warranty is an absolute joke.

Get in touch with @Marshall or @Raja, they will take care of you. I believe the ASUS warranty terms do indeed state that the buyer pays shipping, which doesn't bother me...since my computer doesn't break->see my sig! 😉
