hey guys

G51 is shutting down when the cpu gets to 60-70 degrees C
is it possible that the cpu is on its last leg? or is it the mother board?
if its the cpu, can I replace it with i5-480M.... can my current one be taken out or is it soldered to the socket?

got temp from realtemp gt

Thanks

CPU should be replaceable with one from the same family as long as the new chip has a similar TDP. GPU is questionable on ASUS machines because ASUS often does custom work on them.

Before you go buying something new though I would clean out all of the dust and repaste the CPU & GPU. It could be that they just aren't staying cool enough.
