have you updated as of recent? have you tested the drives 1 by 1, tried different ports?

yup updated everything the bios the chipset and switched it around nothing works

So what your saying is no matter how you configure it, the WD drive doesn't appear, but the ssd does? sounds like a dead drive. But before we come to conclusions, maybe you should test the wd drive on a different pc, like a desktop.

Maybe a drive firmware incompatibility??? Try checking for updates to the drive firmware in addition to updating the BIOS and chipset drivers. Check the BIOS to see if the drive appears there reliably. If it always appears in the BIOS, the drive and SATA channel are likely good. If not, start looking at BIOS issues or hardware channel problems.

well i downgraded the chipset but cant downgrade the bios hope it works its just weird i have to cold boot the system in order the 2nd drive to appear

sounds like a hardware issue, considering that the other sata port still works. Are you under warranty?

I too, am having this problem. I sent my g73jh to the Asus "royal club" customer support center for a week. They tested my computer with another hard drive. It worked perfectly fine. When they plugged in my 750GB WD Black (Advance format) it started having problems again. They reinstalled bios (not sure if its the same version or they updated it) and it is still having this trouble.

I'm going to try to install new drivers for the chipset and whatnot like you guys recommended. If i don't post back means didn't work. Any other additional things I can try to get it to work?

Sounds like a failing drive to me. Call WD about an RMA/replacement.
