The included Atheros card in the G75VW is a very poor card compared to a number of others. However, considering you're a self-proclaimed "noob", you may want to either put up with the speed, or buy a USB wireless solution and disable the built-in card. If you're feeling up to it, you COULD upgrade the card in the laptop. (I've upgraded mine to an Intel 6235, which is FANTASTIC!)

Nah the speed is really fustrating. I can get the card for around 50 on ebay so I think I'll give it a crack!

If you're going with the Intel 6235, you'll want to make sure you have a wireless router where you can take advantage of the 2x2 MIMO. They're totally worth the extra money if you can afford it. If not, at least make sure you have the option for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. That way, if 2.4Ghz is crowded in your area, you can switch to a less crowded band.

If on 5 GHz, make sure what your cordless (not cell!) phones band is. They are now 2.4 Ghz and 5.8 Ghz.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!

Yeah I brought a pretty good router a year or so ago. I know it has the 2.4 and 5ghz. I don't run a home phone so all should be fine in that department. Just to check before I hit the buy it now button is this the right one - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/180937376029?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

If description is right, then yes. Looks like mPCIe (the correct interface) to me. Someone else with more experience please verify?

The description seems right. The picture is a stock picture, so there's no way to know for sure on that auction what you're getting. I made sure to buy from someone who didn't have a stock picture in their auction, but that's really up to you.

I saw ASUS G75VW-RS72 and it had a B/G/N card. I was thinking of buying this and upgrading the card to a A/B/G/N card that is 3x3. Does anyone know if there are 3 antennae wires available for a 3x3 wireless card? The stock wireless card is a 2x2 where only 2 antennae wires are used. Is there a 3rd antennae wire not being used in this configuration? If there is, I can connect the 3rd wireless antennae in an upgraded 3x3 wireless card.

There are only 2 antennae in the laptop. If you wanted to use a 3x3 MIMO, you'd have to add the third wire, which gets complicated. (Remember that the lengths matter, as do where they're routed in the body of the laptop!)
