Good news for Linux enthusiasts/users, Canonical released a new 12.04 kernel, finally supporting the G55 keyboard, and I assume the other models as well.
Suddenly I noticed my keyboard being backlit, fully awesome.
Now, all that remains is for Nvidia drivers to bring full support for the 660M, and we'll be all set, the 295.75 (Nvidia Recommended) seem to be what works best for me atm.

Now, if I could only get the media keys assigned as spotify controls, I for one will be all set. So much easier in KDE than in Gnome...
