How do you downgrade bios on G55VW

I upgraded my G55VW from 206 to 209, and now the keyboard backlight wont turn on when I open the lid.
Anybody knows how to do a downgrade, so I can come back to 206 ?

I can only tell how to use Winflash since it's all I've been using.

This is at your own risk.

    Start Command Prompt

    Type:
    cd C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\WinFlash

    Push Enter.

(this is the default install location)

    Type:
    Winflash /nodate

    Push Enter.

Choose the old BIOS and it will let you update (and give you a warning saying it's older).

Let it run, do not do anyhting else. It will ask for Restart. Do it. It should test the BIOS and shutdown from what I remember. Then just start it from Power.

This is tested by me on more than one Asus laptop, but remember that some people had problems with Winflash so wait to see if someone can give you a better option.

I have been trying to downgrade/flash with 204, 206, 208 and 209, but with no success, because the flashing tools wont allow flashing, due to the following errors.

c_man's solution from commandopromt: "Invalid BIOS file"
EZ Flash from bios: "Build Date is too Old!!"
Aptio Winflash from Windows: "3 - Error: ROM file size does not match existing BIOS size."
Aptio AFUDOS from DOS bootdisk: "3 - Error: ROM file size does not match existing BIOS size."

I need other solutions, so anyone give it a shot, and I'll give it a try....

I recommend you PM MarshallR@ASUS about the "G55 keyboard backlight failure on resume from sleep" issue after upgrading from BIOS version 206. ASUS may need to correct this issue in a new BIOS update. It is affecting other G55 owners.

All of them are invalid? That's strange.

Why is it that the Asus bios flashing process is getting less and less user friendly. Why not allow someone to normally rollback a bios without having to do alot of command line stuff. Especially when they obviously don't test their new bios enough to release it. I am trying to roll back to 209 from 214, will try this /nodate option. It just seems to me that they are trying to make things harder and harder. Any answers Asus? We don't like this!!!

come on, it's not that hard. it's a simple one-liner command (provided that you have winflash installed).

    now i prefer easyflash more.

bios flashing should not be too user-friendly, or else you might end up with an expensive brick instead of a working machine.
