What is the difference between ASUS GeForce drivers and NVIDIA GeForce drivers?

They don't share the same version id so I think it's a valid question for a newbie like me.
What is the difference between ASUS GeForce drivers and NVIDIA GeForce drivers?

Is there any point in installing or paying attention to what kind of GeForce drivers I get from ASUS support site?
When I can just go to NVIDIAs driver site?

And if it's all the same, eh .. why is there different version id on each? Oh and there is no release notes that I could find with the ASUS drivers.

They exist for users who aren't aware that NVIDIA exists or has it's own drivers.

It's also the most 'stable' tested version on that laptop.

I would avoid them because they're woefully out of date

More or less as stated, the drivers offered on the Asus site have been tested and found to work well with that model. However, 99.99% of the time, the latest drivers from nVidia or AMD (depending on the GPU) will work equally well.

I have the drivers that came with the laptop.

Should I update to the newest NVIDIA drivers? Cus I'm afraid I get some sort of unstability, heat issues.

Right now the video thing seem stable enough, for me.

Yes.

NVIDIA tends to optimize a bunch of games with each new driver release. If you plan on playing modern games you will benefit from downloading the latest stable NVIDIA drivers

And just to add to this, there's nothing stopping you from reverting back to the older release if, for whatever reason, the newer ones do not work well for you. It just takes a lot of time and effort for someone here at Asus to test every single driver release from nVidia and AMD (as well as Intel for IGPs) with every single model that has an affected GPU (or IGP). So it only happens periodically. nVidia tests their drivers with the same chipsets, so all you have to worry about is that every now and then nVidia puts out driver releases with bugs. The 296.xx releases would cause some cards to occasionally lock up with a kind of pinkish-purple screen for example. You probably won't get those with the Asus ones, but to be fair to nVidia, those are pretty rare to begin with.

Update your NVIDIA drivers or not depends on your specific needs and preferences. If you're satisfied with your laptop's current performance and have no specific reasons to update, it's perfectly fine to stick with the drivers that came with the laptop.

If you have a non-optimus laptop, definitely get the nVidia drivers, they are newer and work perfectly. Unlike AMD, nVidia certifies its reference drivers on every notebook computer minus Sony (go figure) and a few Fujitsu's. Also, they specifically disclaim Optimus configurations, since those can be custom. Standard, no-frills nVidia GPU-powered notebooks work perfectly fine according to nVidia.

I am extremely pissed, trying to figure out the drivers and the difference nothing is working, can any of you guys help me to download the driver for this Asus ROG Nvidia Geforce GTX https://harddiskdirect.com/90yv0ad0-m0na00-asus-video-card.html

Just get the NViDia Experience app on your comp. It will alert you to new drivers and install them for you. Lots more too.
