Help with Signature / Avatar

So what is the secret to allow me to see the 'Use Custom Avatar' box ??? Is this some sort of initiation trial ???
5th Post, maybe now??? Maybe I have to Log out and back in again ??? Windows 8 is more fun than working out how to install an avatar!!!

Nope still no Custom Avatar Box. This is not fun for a 70 Year Old....
Another thing I haven't been able to do is subscribe to threads or topics...
Another secret to unravel ??? Maybe this forum is designed to soften me up for Windows 8 ???

I find it, you need go to Settings & Functions -> Edit Profile

at the left panel you can see the options, and there you can Edit Signature or Edit Avatar.

It would be extremely nice if this were stickied somewhere as it's not exactly obvious to users that n posts are required to set an avatar and or signature.
