    You will definately want to fill all 4 dimm slots, either 4x4 for 16gig or 8x4 for 32gig.

    buy it laters and see how the onboard sound perform first
    personaly ive never used a soundcard, exept the one that came whit the board if it had one.
    it have optic out, minijack out ( for multi channel setup ) for headset it have front audio in and output ( if it its on your case ).

    System Requirements: PC with built-in 3.5mm audio jacks & 1 USB port <- headphones
    yeah, look at the specs on the board your getting and you will see it will suport audio out.
    there is 5 or 6 jack inputs on the back side.
    specs on the motherboard:
    Realtek® ALC898 7.1-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC
    - Supports : Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking
    Audio Feature :
    - Blu-ray audio layer Content Protection
    - Optical S/PDIF out port(s) at back panel

    So the onboard sound does support 7.1 surround?

    it say so in the specs of the mobo, thats where i copyed it from.
    here you see the specs your self, try it out and if your not satisfied after testing it. then buy a soundcard.
    if you think its good then you have saved the monney for that card.

    I'm getting the Rampage IV Formula, not extreme,is the sound on the formula better than the extreme?
