Adding RAM to G75
Hello I'm new to these forums so sorry if there is already a thread on this. I have a G75VW-BBK5 (bought from Bestbuy) It currently has 8 gigs of RAM and I am planning on adding more to get 16 gigs of RAM, I Don't know too much about the speeds and brands of RAM and was wondering what would you recommend me buying, sorry if this question sounds dumb but I just don't know much on what exactly I'm supposed to be looking for. Thanks in advance.

hi biRdyxLoCo,
if you are planning to buy new ram:
1. please run hwinfo64 to get the specs of your stock ram. here is a simple guide for your reference.
2. look for the matching ram. here is the list of possible compatible ram for most of us (but please compare with yours first). if possible, bring along your machine to the shop and ask them to test out your new ram. use hwinfo64 to determine if all ram runs at 800MHz or close to it (i.e. dual channel)
3. here is a youtube video on how you install the ram properly.
basically for most of us our stock ram is with the timings 11-11-11-28 (DDR3 PC3-12800 SODIMM 1600mhz CL11 1.5V RAM).
Stock RAM
1. Hynix 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz non-ECC Unbuffered HMT351S6CFR8C-PB
Manufacturer: Hynix
Manufacturer Part number: HMT351S6CFR8C-PB
Memory Type: SODIMM
Capacity: 4GB
Pins: 204 Pin
Bus Type: PC-12800
Cycle Time: 1.5ns
Cas: CL11
Data Transfer Rate: 1600Mhz
Memory Clock: 200Mhz
Voltage: 1.5V
Complete Swap of RAM (upgrading to 32gb of RAM; caution: warranty void)
1. compatible RAM for full swap:
a) 11-11-11-28, 1.35v, Mushkin part #997038 (source; related thread)
b) 10-10-10-28, 1.5v G.Skill (source; related thread)
notes:
- corsair vengeance (10-10-10-27) might not work.

DS-71 4th ram position
Hello,
I'm about to buy the ds-71 version (which has 12 gb ram).
Please clarify me of the ram configuration. Is it 3 x 4gb?
If so, where is the fourth available slot for upgrade? Is it in the 'easily' accessible area?
Do I need to disassemble the entire laptop to add that single ram?
(I've seen some disassembly guide, but I'm not sure if all the ram slots are on one side)
Thanks.

@Xenos, the answer is yes. I believe they leave one of the easily accessible areas open.
I am disturbed because I cannot break my system...found out there were others trying to cope! We have a support group on here, if your system will not break, please join!
